The Myth
Ouma is a demon-like yokai whose entire body is covered in a substance resembling neither a straw cloak nor fur. It has two horns on its head, white hair, a pointed mouth, and long red claws. Something resembling wings extends from its back.
Ouma is a type of yokai sometimes depicted in Japanese picture scrolls of various monsters. It is particularly known from the Hyakuyōzu, a picture scroll produced around the end of the Edo period that depicts forty-eight types of yokai.
