The Myth
Wanne Thekla is the queen of the elves, witches, and spirits of the air in Flemish folklore. During the night, she descends from the supernatural world to the earth, where she dances and leaps beneath the darkness.
During her nocturnal visits, Wanne Thekla drinks at the Pottelberg. When morning approaches, she leaves the earthly world once again, sailing away aboard a magnificent ship that carries her along the River Leie.
