The Myth
The Min Min Light is a mysterious light reportedly seen in parts of the Australian outback after dark, with the majority of sightings occurring in the Channel Country.
Stories about the lights are found in Aboriginal myth predating Western settlement of the region and later became part of wider Australian folklore. The lights sometimes followed or approached people and disappeared when fired upon, only to reappear later. Indigenous Australians hold that sightings increased alongside the increasing arrival of Europeans in the region.
