The Myth

Tuyamin is a fantastical amphibian in Chinese mythology. It has a dark-colored body resembling a frog and a hard, tortoiseshell-like shield covering its back. This unusual combination gives it the appearance of an armored toad.

The Tuyamin possesses the extraordinary ability to breathe fire, making it a fearsome creature despite its frog-like shape. Its hard shell serves as a distinctive feature, setting it apart from ordinary amphibians. It is known as the “hard frog,” a name that reflects its tough, turtle-like armor.
