In the mythology of the Khoi people of Southwestern Africa, Utixo (or Tiqua) was a benevolent sky god associated with rain, thunder, and life-giving forces. However, one of the most intriguing stories linked to him involves a rabbit—a messenger who unintentionally altered the fate of humanity.

The Rabbit’s Fatal Mistake

According to legend, Utixo wished to send an important message to his people:
Death would not be eternal—there would be resurrection.

To deliver this message, he entrusted a rabbit to carry it to humans. However, along the way, the rabbit became confused and reversed the message, telling people that they would never rise again after death.

This tragic misunderstanding sealed the fate of mankind, as death became permanent.
